Are you frustrated with feeling like you have all of the tools to be healthy, but nothing sticks?
Are you tired of gaining and losing the same 10lbs?
Are you fed up with emotionally eating, only to then feel the cycle of guilt and shame?
I hear you.
I have been coaching in the nutrition and lifestyle space, with a focus on weight loss for the last 15 years. Every day I see people that have all of the motivation and tools in the world, yet still seem to fall back into these cycles. I decided that I needed do more to help people achieve their success.
When people are asked why they fail at lifestyle programs they typically will give one of these answers: lack of discipline or motivation, fear of the unknown, inadequate rewards or you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
Interestingly a recent study reported in “Fast Company Magazine” showed that if heart doctors tell their critically ill at-risk heart patients they will literally die if they can’t change their lifestyle (smoking, exercise, diet etc) only one in seven patients will actually change. If we look back to our reasons of why people won’t change it would seem like death would be a really great motivator to move people past lack of motivation, yet still, only 13% of people will change
I also see this pattern in my practice, which is what has motivated me to find more answers to better help my patients create lasting change. People will be on great programs – they feel great, they are losing weight and then for some reason they fall back into old habits. They know what they want, and what they need to do but for some reason they just can’t sustain it. Clearly, new ways are need to understand why change is so difficult and what we can do about it!
I recently attended a course at Harvard University in Boston called “Immunity to Change”. Here I gained greater insight about hidden barriers to change. This process is backed by 25 years of clinical research and is used in many countries around the world! These researchers have authored several books, but their health-related book is called Right Weight Right Mind.
This workshop will be offered every two months with eight people per session. We have also created a private facebook community for all of those who participate in the workshop as an ongoing way to create support and encouragement to be a little better than you were yesterday.
I strongly believe in this process, and am excited to help you create some transformational breakthroughs. Please email lisa@vibrant-living for more information and the date of our next workshop. The cost is 99$ for the 4-5 hour workshop with snacks and light refreshments provided.
For more information on this process please read this Harvard Business Review Article
